LA's Most Immersive Art Experience Open Until March 16th
Imagine stepping into a world where art isn't just something you look at-it's something you move through, touch, and even play with. 'Let's Fly' is the latest exhibition at the Balloon Museum and it's a larger-than-life immersive journey blending technology, creativity and pure joy. Located at Ace Mission Studios in Los Angeles, this critically acclaimed experience opened in late October and is already being hailed as one of the city's most exciting art installations in years.
Who Should Go?
Whether you're an art lover, a fan of immersive experiences, or just looking for something different to do in LA, Let's Fly is for you. Families, couples and solo adventurers will find themselves completely absorbed in its dreamlike atmosphere. It's especially great for kids and those young at heart-this isn't a "stand-back-and-observe" type of exhibit. It's a playground of light, color, and movement that invites you to participate rather than just spectate.
What Makes It So Special?
Let's Fly brings together over 20 artists from around the world, each contributing their unique vision of air, flight, and inflatable art. The result? A surreal collection of rooms that make you feel like you've entered a completely different dimension. Here's what you'll experience:
* Mariposa by Christopher Schardt – This mesmerizing LED sculpture first wowed audiences at Burning Man and now takes center stage here. Picture an enormous glowing butterfly shifting colors to an ambient soundtrack-it's hypnotic and unforgettable.
* Flying Maze by Cyril Lancelin – A walkable maze made of luminous, inflatable shapes. It's part obstacle course, part art piece, and fully immersive.
* ADA by Karina Smigla-Bobinski – An interactive artwork where visitors hold a helium-inflated sphere with graphite spikes, creating spontaneous abstract drawings on the walls, inspired by Ada Lovelace and the idea of a creative, responsive "program."
* Hyperstellar by Hyperstudio, Quiet Ensemble, and Roman Hill – An immersive, sensory installation that explores the vastness of the cosmos through high-resolution images of exploding water droplets and air bubbles, synchronized with kinetic lights and sound, inviting visitors to reflect on their place in the universe.
* Glowing Spiral by Hyperstudio and Mauro Pace – A mesmerizing, interactive installation featuring a helical vortex of rising and falling balloons, exploring the invisible forces of air and nature through visual and auditory contrasts that shift from chaos to serenity.
* Eye Scream and Octopus Attack! by Filthy Luker & Pedro Estrellas – These pieces add a splash of whimsy and humor, turning everyday objects into playful, oversized sculptures.
Each room is its own adventure, designed to evoke curiosity and wonder. One moment you might be walking through a glowing tunnel, and the next, you're surrounded by inflatable trees that seem to defy gravity.
Why You Can't Miss It
LA has no shortage of pop-up museums and immersive exhibits, but 'Let's Fly' sets itself apart by being more than just an Instagram-worthy experience. It's interactive, imaginative and designed to make you feel something-whether that's awe, nostalgia or just pure fun. It's an art exhibit, but it's also an adventure.
If you're looking for something extraordinary to take your mind off of things or find something fun to do in this rainy weather, don't miss 'Let's Fly.' It's not just art-it's an experience that lifts you off the ground, even if only in spirit.
