If you're looking for a refreshing escape with a dash of luxury, convenience, and those quintessential LA vibes, the Andaz West Hollywood is the spot.
Recently, I needed a mini wellness getaway-a little solo retreat to recharge while the family was busy with other plans. And what better way to do that than at a hotel that sits right on Sunset Boulevard, steeped in Hollywood history and full of relaxation-ready amenities. From its rich music legacy to its comfortable, pet-friendly ambiance, Andaz West Hollywood delivered on every front, giving me the perfect blend of relaxation, nostalgia, and fun.
First, let's talk about the room. The Andaz has 219 hotel rooms and 21 extravagant suites, including the Penthouse Suite. I stayed in an incredible corner suite with everything I could ask for and then some. With floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over Sunset Boulevard, I had sweeping views of LA's iconic skyline, creating the perfect backdrop for sipping coffee each morning. This room wasn't just about the view-it was decked out with thoughtful touches that made my stay even better. Spacious yet cozy, the suite offered all the luxury I craved while still feeling inviting and comfortable. I think the balance between sophistication and relaxation makes Andaz's accommodations stand out. And as a pet-friendly hotel, they took good care of both me and my four-legged friend, making it easy to unwind completely.
Being right on the Sunset Strip, the Andaz is in a prime location for those looking to enjoy the best of West Hollywood without needing to go far. Growing up in LA, I often came to this area for its nightlife-bars, live music, and endless comedy spots were the heartbeat of the Strip. This time, I wanted to enjoy the neighborhood a bit differently, savoring its ambiance through a more laid-back lens. Walking along Sunset Boulevard, I found all the familiar spots that have given the Strip its legendary status-Saddle Ranch Chop House with its famous mechanical bull, the iconic Comedy Store, and the glamorous open-air Skybar just across the street, where you can always expect a crowd and a good vibe.
One of the things I loved most about staying at the Andaz West Hollywood was the feeling that I didn't need to go far to get anything I needed. Just a block down the street was Pink Dot, a local LA institution for quick essentials and sudden cravings. The dog park just across the street made it easy to give my pup some outdoor time, and there's a good mix of boutiques and stores within walking distance if shopping calls your name. If you're up for a hike, Runyon Canyon, a popular trail renowned for its stunning views of Los Angeles, is a great way to get in a bit of nature without needing to drive far. When it comes to dining, Andaz has you covered, but the Strip's many restaurant options also mean you can try something new every day; the Sunset Plaza is less than half a mile away and full of excellent restaurants and shopping.
With its stunning rooftop setup, the Andaz pool was a slice of paradise during my stay. Relaxing by the pool with a cocktail, soaking in the sun, and taking in that unbeatable view of LA made it feel like I was far away from my everyday routine. The pool area also has cabanas if you want more privacy, making it an ideal spot to unwind with a good book or catch up on some daydreaming. There's a rooftop bar, too, which makes it easy to transition from daytime relaxation to evening vibes without leaving the hotel.
After a restful day at the pool and exploring, I met a friend for dinner at Katana, a lively sushi spot just two doors down the street. The meal was fantastic, the conversation easy, and the evening captured the fun spirit of LA. We wrapped up with drinks and late-night bites at The Riot House, the hotel's laid-back bar that once hosted '70s rock legends. The Andaz is a piece of West Hollywood history, with subtle nods here and there that make it feel like a true part of Sunset Boulevard's DNA.
Ultimately, Andaz West Hollywood made for a perfect staycation escape. I found a blend of relaxation, fun, and memories that reminded me why I love LA. The location, right in the heart of Sunset Boulevard, makes it so easy to dip in and out of the buzz of the Strip without feeling overwhelmed. Its top-notch amenities and pet-friendly environment offer a welcoming and versatile space to unwind. Whether you're coming from near or far, Andaz West Hollywood is the place that makes you feel like you're right where you're meant to be-enjoying life, LA-style, on the legendary Sunset Strip.
