Is Santa Monica California's Most Financially Mismanaged City? Why do $1.4 million to The People Concern STILL remain unaccounted for?

1) These meetings started when the LA County Civil Grand Jury judged Santa Monica one of the most financially mismanaged cities in LA County. Today it's worse.

2) The original auditing firm Moss Adams should be replaced. They are still conducting "virtual" audits, and waiting 9 months to a year for answers from City Staff and City-funded non-profits.

3) We need a DIFFERENT firm with NO long term ties to the City, Council, or Staff. Staff should NOT be interviewing the candidates. THIS committee should.

4) City Manager David White and Staff, should NOT REVIEW, then EDIT, reports and audits PRIOR to this Committee and City Council. There is no transparency.

5) Santa Monica must be run by people who care and know what they are doing, FINANCIALLY and ETHICALLY.

6) Why did you delay overview of the Moss Adams Homeless Study until AFTER Council elections? It's been ready.

7) Why do $1.4 million of City grants to The People Concern STILL remain unaccounted for?

8) Why does over $809,000 of the City's grant to The People Concern NOT reconcile between their Fiscal Report and their General Ledger?

9) Why does The City give away our tax dollars to St. Joseph's and Clare Matrix, who after 2 years do NOT document over half their expenditures?

10) The City's unfunded Pension Liability is growing at a faster rate than the City's General Fund.

11) In 2019 it was 45% of the City budget. Today it's over 150%.

12) We're looking forward to working with new incoming Council Members on this committee, who we'll hold accountable, and we hope pay attention, and are not worse than Mayors and Committee Members Sue Himmelrich, Gleam Davis and Phil Brock have been these past few years.

Today the City is BROKE, financially and in more other ways, than ever before.
