Less Than 100 Votes Separate Republican Michelle Steel and Democrat Derek Tran, for Calif. Congressional District 45

Steel is just 58 votes ahead in a district that spans Orange and Los Angeles counties. 303,772 votes have been counted.

One congressional race in Southern California is too close to call. We're talking, it doesn't get any closer than this.

In the 45th Congressional District in Orange County, Rep. Michelle Steel leads Democratic challenger Derek Tran, 50.02% with 152,415 votes, to Tran's 49.98% with 151,357 votes. The California Secretary of State's office estimates that around 30,000 ballots have yet to be received or counted.

Steel is just 58 votes ahead in a district that spans Orange and Los Angeles counties.

The Republican Party appears to be headed to a 222 to 213 seat majority in the lower chamber, if you include District 45 as Red. So one seat makes a big difference.
