Update, 11/3/24: From a man who claims to know the family: "A female student from the Islamic Azad University of Science and Research in Tehran fell into a coma today at noon after being tortured by security guards.
All students and professors from state, private, and medical universities across the country have declared that they will not attend classes on Monday, November 5, 2024, and will instead hold a sit-in on campus to protest the torture of this student and to voice against the violence of the guards and stringent laws.
On Saturday, November 3, 2024, security guards confronted this female student upon her entry to the university because she was not wearing a mask.
During this confrontation, her clothes were torn. In protest of the guards' violence, she removed her torn clothes and told the guards, "You can't do anything wrong to me."
The guards forcibly put her in a car, and according to eyewitnesses, her head bled profusely after hitting a pillar or car door. Unfortunately, she fell into a coma on the way to detention and was transferred to a hospital.
The student's family, after being informed, went to the university and inquired about their daughter's whereabouts but have received no response so far."
11/2/24: Tehran, Iran – A video from Iran's University of Science and Research has ignited public outrage and international concern after showing a student's bold protest against the country's strict dress codes and the actions of the Islamic Republic's morality police. The student was later identified by other students, as Ahoo Daryaei, meaning Deer of the Sea #AhouDaryaei #AhooDaryaei.
According to witnesses, a female student was accosted by the morality police for allegedly showing her hair beneath her hijab. The encounter reportedly escalated when officers tore her clothes during the confrontation. In response, the student took an extraordinary stand of defiance-removing her remaining clothes and standing in the square in only her underwear, a stark protest against the country's enforced dress code and the aggressive policing tactics she faced.
However, the situation quickly took a darker turn. Minutes after the video was recorded, the woman was reportedly beaten and taken away by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), sparking fears for her safety and whereabouts. Such "forcible disappearances" have become a growing concern in Iran, as activists and ordinary citizens face intensified crackdowns amid protests calling for change.
This incident has fueled an already vibrant movement pushing for a "Free Iran," as more citizens voice their desire to break free from the influence of radical Islamist governance and demand reforms for basic human rights and personal freedoms.
The video and the student's courageous protest have resonated with people across the world, casting a spotlight on Iran's struggle with authoritarianism and repression. International calls for accountability are growing, as advocates and human rights organizations urge the Iranian government to end these abuses and grant its citizens the freedoms they are fighting for. The regime has said she is mentally ill.
This developing story underscores the perilous climate faced by those who dare to stand up against Iran's restrictive laws, adding yet another chapter to the ongoing fight for freedom and justice in the region.
