"For anyone wondering, that's Chad Smith, the drummer for Red Hot Chili Peppers sitting and watching the guy play his song."

A street drummer on Santa Monica’s lively Third Street Promenade recently had an unexpected audience: Chad Smith, the legendary drummer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. In a video posted by Tara Bull on Twitter, Smith, a white-haired man dressed casually, can be seen nodding along, appreciating the performance from a nearby seat.

Bull captioned the video with, “For anyone wondering, that’s Chad Smith, the drummer for Red Hot Chili Peppers, sitting and watching the guy play his song.” She added, “Imagine dunking for Michael Jordan and not even realizing he’s sitting front row watching.”

The moment sparked excitement online. “That would be a surreal experience! Just going for a dunk and then realizing the legend himself is right there—imagine the pressure and excitement!” wrote Twitter user Himanshu. Another user, Raul Paul, tweeted, “Wow!! That’s really cool! He is one of the best drummers ever. And homie is playing in front of him without a clue. Priceless.”

The viral moment captured the thrill of an unknowing performer playing for a music icon, delighting fans of both the street musician and the rock legend alike.
