"in a Clark County, WA ballot drop box shortly after hundreds of ballots were burned in WA & OR through the use of incendiary devices"
Investigators in the Pacific Northwest are examining two arson fires set at ballot drop boxes, where incendiary devices left behind bore the words "Free Gaza," according to law enforcement officials familiar with the case. The incidents occurred early Monday, one in Portland, Oregon, and another just across the state line in Vancouver, Washington. The devices' markings have raised concerns, and investigators are exploring whether the arsonist may be a pro-Palestinian activist or someone exploiting the cause to create tension during the final days of the presidential election. One official noted the political sensitivity surrounding the incidents, especially given the polarized climate.
This is not the first time the "Free Gaza" message has surfaced in the investigation. Earlier this month, a similar device, labeled with both "Free Gaza" and "Free Palestine," was discovered at another ballot box in Vancouver. Law enforcement officials believe the incidents are connected and have released surveillance footage showing a dark, early 2000s Volvo believed to be involved in the incidents. Authorities have asked for public assistance in identifying the driver to expedite the investigation.
"I can exclusively report that a handwritten note declaring "ALL DROP BOXES WILL BURN. FREE GAZA" was discovered in a Clark County, WA ballot drop box shortly after hundreds of ballots were burned in WA & OR through the use of incendiary devices." tweeted Andy Ngo, an independent reporter.
