Fire at 1032 10th Street Puts Two in Hospital, Scorches Upper Floor of Apartment Building

Apartment Fire on 9th Street in Santa Monica Injures Two, Causes Temporary Road Closure

Santa Monica, CA – October 29, 2024 – A fire erupted at an apartment on 9th Street in Santa Monica this afternoon, scorching two rooms in an upper-floor unit of a 1970s-era, multi-unit building. The blaze, which broke out at approximately 2 p.m. PST at 1032 9th Street, prompted a swift response from three fire companies and around 20 firefighters who quickly brought the fire under control.

The fire resulted in two men being transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. Both men are reported to be in fair condition. The fire caused a temporary closure of 9th Street to traffic for one block as firefighters worked to contain the situation.

Officials have not yet disclosed the cause of the fire, and no additional injuries were reported. Local authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the source of the blaze.
