The Daily Santa Monica Crime and Drug Video - October 31, 2024

Santa Monica's City Council thinks the city is just fine. One councilmember called the homeless residents our neighbors, their wants and desires equivalent to those of people who pay rent and pay taxes. The 'freedom' of some, most of whom suffer from drug addiction and mental illness, to live in filth, disease and to commit crimes with impunity, is valued over the ability of the rest of society to live healthy lives in law and order.

Santa Monica now enters the Holiday Season with grass areas of its parks unsafe for kids, fewer tourists, and 86% of residents staying away from its Downtown and even Wilshire Blvd. Santa Monica gave away over $60 million of tax dollars to nonprofits to address issues shown in this video. But it's worse with every dollar spent and every new Staff Member hired. There is a powerful new industry with persons receiving paychecks based on these problems escalating. How smart is that? Do residents and visitors feel safer? Have the number of reported and unreported assaults, felonies and property crimes risen? We do not even know how the City grants are spent or whose pockets they line. Are you exhausted from all of City Manager David White's stonewalling, verbal reports and colorful brochures and charts that contrast with real data? What can we do that's different?
