Santa Monica College Employee Has Died From Shooting Injuries

Operations Manager at Santa Monica College, tragically lost her life following a violent encounter with fellow employee Davon Dean, 39, on Monday.

The shocking incident at the SMC Center for Media and Design has left the community reeling. Dean's actions triggered a two-day manhunt, ending in a standoff with law enforcement in El Segundo on Tuesday. Cornered by Sheriff's deputies, Dean died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, bringing the tragic events to a close.

Santa Monica Police confirmed late Wednesday that Felicia Hudson, a resident of Newman, Georgia, succumbed to her injuries after being rushed to a local hospital. She passed away at 5:00 p.m. on October 16, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to her role at SMC.

Law enforcement identified Dean, a custodian at the college, as the shooter responsible for this heartbreaking incident. He was found deceased in his vehicle near El Segundo Blvd. and Aviation Blvd.

In the wake of this tragedy, the Santa Monica College Foundation, in collaboration with Hudson's family, has established a legacy fund in her honor.
