Santa Monica College Will Remain Closed Until Sunday, October 20, Due to Shooting by SMC Employee

Santa Monica College will remain closed until Sunday October 20th. An SMC employee shot another outside the Media Center on Monday, October 13th.

Davon Durell Dean, 39, had a criminal background and killed himself the day after the shooting. Perhaps the college wants to examine how someone so obviously unfit to work for SMC, nevertheless got a job there.

Dean and his victim were both custodians. He committed attempted murder in 2011, and assault with a deadly weapon in 2019. She remains in the hospital in critical condition.
