SANTA MONICA COMMUNITY UNITES TO FIND NEW LEADERSHIP FOR A SAFER CITY

Residents, Business Owners, and the Hospitality Community, which includes restaurants and hotels, have joined forces to elect a slate of 4 Santa Monica City Council Candidates who are committed to transforming Santa Monica into a SAFER city.

SANTA MONICA, CA – In a powerful demonstration of unity and determination, the residents, business owners, and the hospitality community of Santa Monica have come together to address the city's most pressing challenges. Two key groups, Santa Monicans United and Hospitality Santa Monica, have embarked on a mission to bring about significant change to Santa Monica by identifying and supporting four candidates for the Santa Monica City Council who are committed to turning the city around.

Faced with rising crime rates, economic decline, and a growing homelessness crisis, the communities recognized the urgent need for new leadership. Determined to take action, members of Santa Monicans United and Hospitality Santa Monica undertook a thorough and deliberate process to find candidates who would bring the necessary change to the city. They conducted an extensive search, interviewed numerous potential leaders, and rigorously vetted candidates to ensure that only the most qualified and committed individuals would be endorsed.

After this exhaustive process, the coalition is proud to support a slate of four candidates who embody the vision and determination needed to restore Santa Monica's safety and prosperity. The four candidates are: 1) Dr. Vivian Roknian, a long-time resident, oral surgeon, small business owner, and parent; 2) John Putnam, a 30-year resident, a small business owner and parent; 3) Incumbent Mayor Phil Brock and 4) Incumbent Councilmember Oscar de la Torre. Their SLATE is "Democrats for a Safer Santa Monica".

The election of this SLATE will create a supermajority on the City Council. By securing a super-majority, these candidates will have the power to immediately increase public safety, support local businesses, effectively tackle the homeless crisis, and make sure the city of Santa Monica is fiscally responsible.

I’d like to know if these candidates support pouring more money into developer’s pockets to build more rental units or are open to building affordable condos people could buy? Because the overkill of renters, 65%+, is destroying the middle class! People are better off if they can pay off their home while they are working and retire with the mortgage paid. This creates a much healthier financial profile. JT, financial advisor, Santa Monica since 1992 😃
