Pedal the Pacific Asks You to Sponsor a 1000 Mile Bike Ride, to Fight Sex Trafficking.

Bicycling down the Pacific Coast from Seattle to San Diego, the bike riders raise funds to improve an intimidating problem.

A group of young women are putting their feet to work, pedaling bicycles down the Pacific Coast, to raise awareness and funds for the struggle against sex trafficking.

Hannah, Morgan, Tracy and Claire started in Seattle and will ride their bikes to San Diego to raise money for domestic sex trafficking prevention. We ran into them as they rose Sunday morning, after spending a night in Santa Monica. They were about to hit the road for the final leg of their ride down the Pacific Coast to San Diego.

"We ride because every day, all across America, men, women, and children are being trafficked for sex," says the group's website, http://www.pedalthepacific.org

"Pedal the Pacific exists to educate all people about sex trafficking. We use bikes as a platform to raise awareness, educate peers, fundraise for leading nonprofits, and develop leaders who believe that no voice is too small to make a difference," the website continues.

"Pedal the Pacific started in 2017 with three friends who wanted to raise awareness about domestic sex trafficking. Grace, Sara, and Savannah pedaled the Pacific in 2017 with a desire to raise awareness about domestic sex trafficking within their communities. Our teams ride 1,700 miles down the Pacific Coast and to date have raised over half a million dollars for the anti-trafficking movement."

"They decided to do something so outside of their comfort zone that people couldn’t help but ask why. They tag-lined themselves as “hilariously un-athletic girls” and announced their plans to cycle 1,700 miles down the Pacific Coast. This immediately captured people’s attention and prompted them to dig deeper into their reason for riding."

"Sex trafficking is a complex, intimidating topic. They wanted to create a space to talk about sex trafficking with their community in a welcoming way."

"By joining the Freedom Circle, you invest into the leadership development of the young women that come through our program – so that advocacy can play a role in their lives forever."
