The driver of the pickup truck and the train passenger are both in unknown condition but do not have life-threatening injuries
Just before 1:30 Friday afternoon, Santa Monica Fire Engine 2 was en route to another unrelated call when they encountered an accident involving a pickup truck and a train at the intersection of Colorado Avenue and 11th Street. They reported that the driver was still inside and possibly trapped.
Minutes after this report, first responders arrived on the scene and confirmed that the driver was still inside but did not need to be extricated from the vehicle. The driver was checked out by firefighters and was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
There were 45 passengers reported to be on the train when the collision occurred. Two were checked out for medical complaints, with one being transported to a local hospital. The driver of the pickup truck and the train passenger are both in unknown condition but do not have life-threatening injuries.
