Hundreds of people participated in the 4th of July parade on Main Street this morning.
All kinds of groups were represented in the event, which was sponsored by the Ocean Park Community Organization. Former mayor Judy Abdo was the grand Marshall.
There were floats by Santa Monica College, SMC Emeritus college, Lighthouse church, as well as a Brazilian drumming group from Bahia. The Santa Monica Police Department's equestrian unit rode their horses in the parade.
Sen. Ben Allen walked in the parade as his staff rode a car.
The sky was overcast, though the clouds did burn off later.
