A shooting in the 2600 block of 29th street on Thursday morning has killed one victim. The perpetrator shot at a black Ford Mustang SUV , which was later parked on 29th Street near the 2900 block of Ocean Park Blvd. At 3 pm, the SMPD tweeted that the victim had died from his injuries. A photo from the scene, posted here, shows the drivers window having been smashed by the bullet. KTLA reported blood could be seen on the driver's side on the street.

Late Friday afternoon, Police announced the arrest of a female suspect whom they described as homeless. Kayla Denise Mackey has been charged with the murder of Edward Williams III. According to a post on social media, Williams was a single father with two children. He was missing one leg. He was often seen in the neighborhood helping local homeless people. Mackey was a known local homeless woman, whom neighbors feared for her level of insanely threatening behavior.

Santa Monica Police released the following on Twitter: "Today, at 10:25 AM, we received a call of shots fired in the 2600 block of 29th Street. The location is across the street from a large park, Clover Park. It is not far from Santa Monica Airport. The neighborhood, called Sunset Park, is ordinarily safe by Santa Monica standards.

I'm just responding to the previous comment. The word murder is in the headline because the person is dead. Also, I have read other stories about this event. I don't know if true or not true. But the basic story seems to be, from what I've heard, that a man in a nice car from los angeles picked up a homeless woman from los angeles. They drove to santa monica and a fight ensued (not sure if over money - but seems possible) and a gun was drawn, fired, and the man ended up dead. Maybe Santa Monica and LA should crack down on prostitution because it leads to death.

Why does the headline say “murdered” when there is no evidence the victim is dead?
