Florida teen Brendan Depa beat a teacher unconscious for taking away his Nintendo game console. Depa has plead guilty to the felony charge against him.
The Florida teacher who was beaten unconscious by a 270 pound teen reportedly wants "no mercy" for her attacker. She says she has been living off donations. The victim, Joan Naydich, says her whole life has been turned upside down and she wants the maximum sentence of 30 years behind bars for her attacker Brendan Depa.
Brendan Depa viciously beat Noan Naydich in 2023 after she took away his Nintendo. Brendan Depa faces up to 30 years in prison for the brutal beating. His sentence will be determined in January.
Naydich is reportedly refusing to help Depa get a lighter sentence as she said she hopes this case will "prevent anyone else from ever dealing with the trauma.... I'm hopeful that the awareness of this incident being spread far and wide will prevent anyone else from ever dealing with the trauma, physical healing and disruption of everyday life this has caused."
"Everybody that knows me or knew me [before the attack], knows that I'm a totally different person now. My whole life was just turned upside down," she said to a local news station.
Naydich says she has been struggling to get workers' compensation from the school district and has been living on donations. The teacher said she wants the maximum sentence for Depa. "I want to make sure he is not able to walk the streets freely," she said.
Depa is scheduled to be sentenced in January he plead guilty to the offense. He was captured on security camera punching the prone teacher in the back over and over, while other female teachers tried to pull him off of her.
