Israel Was Not Operating in the Area at the Time, and a 30% of Gaza's homemade rockets fall back onto the Gaza Strip.
Updated 10.18.23: in yet more security camera footage, the IDF showed that rockets launched from a cemetery immediately east of Baptist hospital, preceded by a few seconds the explosion and fire in the Gaza parking lot. A spokesman added that the main building of the hospital was undamaged and that perhaps 50 civilians had died in the parking lot and burned out cars visible the next morning.
Angry crowds, blaming the Jews anyway, marched in various western cities and briefly occupied and scorched Israeli embassies in Beirut Lebanon and Amman Jordan .
Update 1:30 pm PST: "This may be live footage of the failed rocket that hit the hospital in Gaza. We have said that according to our intelligence analysis, the explosion was caused by a failed rocket fired by the Islamic Jihad." Jonathan Conricus, IDF Spokesman.
Initial reports suggest that the mass casualty event at the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City 10/17, was the result of a misfired rocket launch by Hamas. There was no Israel Defence Forces (IDF) air activity reported at the time, and the timing coincided with a salvo of rockets launched at Israel.
About 30-40% of Hamas' rockets misfire and land short in the Gaza Strip.
Casualty reports from the Baptist Hospital, which was hit at about 9 am PST Tuesday, range from 40 to 500. Hamas of course immediately blamed Israel for the catastrophe. Hamas is known to use the territories' hospitals, for underground command centers and as rocket launch sites.

"The region is on the brink of a much larger war. Every piece of info must be critically analyzed. Yes, I've seen the videos from the hospital and the ones claiming it's a misfire. Hamas officials tell us it was an Israeli strike. The Israelis tell us they are investigating." @TreyYingst, Fox News, 11:35 am PST 10.17.23
"Lots of talk in recent hours of a failed rocket launch striking the grounds of a hospital in Gaza. I think it's timely to remind viewers that rockets produced by terrorists aren't always effective." tweeted Joe Truzman. He included a report that an Arabic news channel was also reporting that a Hamas rocket misfired. https://x.com/JoeTruzman/status/1714347663234383968?s=20
"BREAKING: Initial investigation by IDF shows explosion in hospital in Gaza was caused by a failed Hamas rocket launch." tweeted i24News from Israel, at 11:40 am PST. https://x.com/i24NEWS_EN/status/1714348101748559883?s=20

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu tweeted: "The entire world should know: It was barbaric terrorists in Gaza that attacked the hospital in Gaza, and not the IDF. Those who brutally murdered our children also murder their own children.." https://x.com/visegrad24/status/1714379637839573451?s=20
Improvised rockets built by terrorists often fail. The IDF issued a video showing repeated launches by Hamas, falling back on Gaza: https://x.com/IDF/status/1714464412671557774?s=20

This story is pathetic. The proof video is at a far distance and could have been recorded years ago. Forensic analysis of the incoming missile shows it was a JDAM, US-made, Isreal- used. pic.twitter.com/73sCwVFrUk

No way in hell this was caused by a Hamas rocket….they are glorified Roman candles incapable of doing a minute fraction of that kinda damage. And…if that psychopath Netanyahu said as much then you know it’s a lie. Virtually nothing he says is truthful…….like pretty much every government “leader”
