Authorities did not immediately identify the victim, who appeared to be an African ancestry male.
A dead man was found in a 55 gallon barrel on Malibu beach Monday afternoon. Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputies were seen looking into the black barrel on Monday afternoon.
Authorities did not immediately identify the victim, who appeared to be an African ancestry male. They did not say how the man died or whether his death appeared to be foul play. It's hard to imagine, however, a non criminal manner in which the man's body could have found its way into the barrel.
"No information about the victim was immediately known. Authorities believe he had not been in the barrel for very long. Due to high tide, investigators believe it is possible the barrel was carried into the lagoon from the ocean," tweeted @LASDHQ
A park maintenance worker first saw the barrel floating inside the Malibu lagoon Sunday night. They got in a kayak to get it and brought it to shore, but apparently it was too heavy and they didn’t want to open it, so they left it on shore. A lifeguard then opened it and made the grim discovery.
