Mudslide Reported in 1500 Block of Pacific Coast Highway, 2 Blocks Past the McClure Tunnel

3.15.23: Dispatchers Wednesday morning received a report of debris in the middle of PCH. The report came on 3/15/23, just before 1 am. The debris may have accompanied a landslide or mudslide from the cliffs below Palisades Park. Such slides are rare in Santa Monica but do happen, and authorities have taken steps to stabilize the cliffs.

The call to 911 dispatch came in the middle of a 2 inches of rain fell on Santa Monica, about midway through a 24 hour period.
