2.11.23: the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild (MUAHS, IATSE Local 706)) held its 10th annual awards show at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, 9876 Wilshire Blvd, Beverly Hills.
This exciting award show was hosted by actress Melissa Peterman. Talented Franke Grande (Ariana Grande's brother) introduced the red carpet pre-show ceremony. Baz Luhrmann's "Elvis" received two winning awards for the best period and/or character make-up and period and or character hair styling
There were five special honors Make-up artist D'Andre Michael and MUAH winner Camille Friend. Presented the Distinguished Artisan Award to Angela Bassett. Angela Bassett profusely thanked all the hard working team of artisans who help bring life and authenticity to the characters on screen with their dedication and expertise.
Best special make-up effects went to Adrien Morot, Kathy Tse, and Chris Gallaher for "The Whale". Michelle Chung was the recipient for hair and make-up.
The "Everything Everywhere All at Once" team brought home the award for best contemporary make-up. The "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" team won for best contemporary hair.
Steve La Porte and hair stylist Josée Normand were given Lifetime Achievement Awards and make-up artist Fred C. Blau Jr. and hair stylist Judy Crown received Vanguard Awards.
