SM Police and Firemen pulled reluctant man off the bridge, over the rail and to safety.
Authorities responded to a person threatening to jump off a bridge in Santa Monica Tuesday, causing a traffic tie up as first responders rallied, the SMPD said in a press release.
Video of the incident has appeared on the Facebook group Santa Monicans Against Crime, posted by Janet McLaughlin. We watched as SM Police and Firemen pulled reluctant man off the bridge, over the rail and to safety.
Police and the SMFD responded to the incident just after 9 a.m. on Ocean Avenue and Colorado Avenue. A man was threatening to jump off a ramp over Pacific Coast (1) Highway, according to Public Information Officer Lt. Rudy Flores.
The person was safely removed from the ramp around 10 a.m., Flores said. Traffic near the intersection was significantly impacted, as was traffic on Moomat Ahiko Way, police noted.
