Samohi Theatre to present "Clue: On Stage!" live and in person, Nov. 5, 6, 7, 12, 13 and 14th.

"A falling chandelier, a trap-door, many mistaken identities, a pile of dead bodies, lots of farcical actions and improbable incidents, and you have the makings of a joyous evening."

For almost 2 years they have been doing online theater, one mom explained. "It was challenging, but kept them connected to each other. The drama students literally did not know for sure if they could even perform without masks … until this week. We literally had to wait to make sure there were no “outbreaks” They rehearsed for 2 months masked. Not a single Covid case in the cast - phewwww!

Samohi Theatre is excited to present the hilarious and fast paced whodoneit comedy Clue: On Stage! The play, which is based on the popular board game and 1985 movie Clue, was written by Sandy Rustin and had its world premiere in 2017 (at the Bucks County Playhouse in Pennsylvania). It has since become a popular choice for college and high school theatre programs around the globe.

Six eccentric strangers have been invited to a remote New England manor for a dinner party on a dark and stormy night. By whom and for what purpose remains a mystery, even as the staff and fellow guests begin to drop dead before your very eyes. Clue: On Stage! is a whacky whodunnit that will keep you laughing.

"A meal with murder and blackmail on the menu!...Add (weapons), a falling chandelier, a trap-door, many mistaken identities, a pile of dead bodies, lots of farcical actions and improbable incidents, and you have the makings of a joyous evening." (Broadway World)

From SamoHi Director Kate Barraza: "Murder mysteries have long entertained readers and audiences who enjoy figuring out "Who Done It?" But Clue is an especially engaging comedic murder mystery, as it was inspired by the classic board game, a favorite of multiple generations. Many of us grew up with the beloved characters: Mrs. Peacock, Mr. Green, Colonel Mustard, Professor Plum, Mrs. White and Miss. Scarlet with their arsenal of familiar weapons. Our butler Wadsworth, our maid Yvette and our Cook round out the cast for this madcap, slapstick romp. In addition to its popularity and familiar characters, Clue offers specific learning opportunities for theatre students in regard to the timing of the comedy and the building of suspense and urgency. These Samohi students have come out of distance learning like champions. It's exciting to watch them prepare to perform before a live audience for the first time in almost two years."
