SM to Present 'Jobs for Green Economy' Workshop Series

The City of Santa Monica will be present an online, workshop series, "Calling All Trades: Jobs for a Green Economy," beginning July 7. The 8-part speaker series will be held via Zoom on Wednesdays, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

This online series intends to inform, prepare and encourage people who may be interested in having a career in the following trades: electrical, plumbing, electric vehicle infrastructure and renewable energy. 

Speakers will discuss the importance of recognizing opportunities in the trades and how to pursue the pre-requisite education, finding employment and the soft skills needed to climb the ladder in the trades.

The speakers will also share invaluable information about their own occupational journeys and what they learned about themselves in the pursuit of their career goals and attendees will gain knowledge about how to pursue jobs in the growing green economy.  

Event line-up includes: July 7 - Mike Suhd, Introduction to the Trades; July 14 - Shane Peters, Plumbing, Santa Monica Building & Safety Division; July 21- Daniel Ferguson & Estelle Reyes, Green Jobs in Los Angeles; July 28 - King Moore, Electrical, IBEW Local 11; August 11 - Rick Austin, Logistics, Amazon; and August 18 - Stuart Cooley, Renewable Energy Educator.
