Community, Diversity, Sustainability and other Overused Words
The pandemic has rolled back surprisingly quickly, and suddenly Preschool is available to all SM Residents of preschool age.
Enrollment has started for all 2021-22 preschool programs and Seaside neighborhood options at the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District.
The programs include fee-based, half-day and full-day classrooms as well as state-subsidized programs offering free preschool for qualifying families, SMMUSD said in a press release. District and state preschool programs will take place at John Adams, Lincoln Child Development Center, McKinley, Muir, Rogers and Washington West.
In addition, as part of its Early Learning Pathway, the district has several Seaside neighborhood preschool programs for the 2021-22 school year. The programs are district-aligned, Reggio-inspired, STEAM-enhanced, and supportive of equity and access to all students, SMMUSD said. These programs are located at Grant, Edison, Franklin, McKinley, and Webster.
If you are interested in Edison, Grant or Webster, call those schools directly for enrollment information. For other preschool programs offered, submit a pre-enrollment application to receive an invitation letter. You can contact molmos@smmusd.org or go to http://www.smmusd.org/cds and locate "Pre Enrollment Application" to complete a form.
The Early Learning Pathway program is centered around the idea that neighborhood preschool programs are available to all students living in Santa Monica and Malibu, the district said. Although enrollment is available to students residing within SMMUSD boundaries, preference is given to families within individual elementary school neighborhoods.
