Eddie Van Halen died Tuesday morning after a long battle with throat cancer. He was 65.
This according to a tweet from the guitarist's son Wolfgang Van Halen, who sent the following tweet this morning:
"I can't believe I'm having to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning. He was the best father I could have ever asked for. Every moment I've shared with him on and off stage was a gift," Wolfgang Van Halen said on Twitter.
Edward Lodewijk Van Halen was a Dutch-American musician, songwriter, producer, and inventor. He was the main songwriter and founder-with brother and drummer Alex Van Halen, bassist Mark Stone, and singer David Lee Roth-of the American rock band Van Halen.
