Evacuation sites for those who could be displaced are being prepared
Those of us who awoke Wednesday morning to reddish skies and orange sunlight, should not be surprised to learn that LA County Fire has issued an evacuation warning for the area.
"The Unified Incident Command of the Angeles National Forest, Los Angeles County Fire Department, Monrovia Fire Department and the LA County Sheriffs Department are directing the residents of Duarte, Bradbury, Monrovia, Arcadia, Sierra Madre, Pasadena and Altadena below the Bobcat Fire to be prepared to evacuate, as there continues to be rapid fire growth. Be advised-- this is an Evacuation Warning," says the, well, evacuation warning.
The evacuation warning continues: continues:
Residents following Ready, Set, Go! should have evacuation plans in place, organize their emergency evacuation supplies, and have essential evacuation personal belongings easily accessible. Vehicles should be fully fueled, facing out in their driveways and ready to Go!
When Incident Command and Law Enforcement decide to issue an Evacuation Order, residents should be able to quickly gather their families and pets and leave the area to designated evacuation sites, or to family and friends' homes outside the fire area. Please make those arrangements now. Delaying these preparedness act ions will prevent fire crews from suppression activities and compromise the safety of the public and first responders.
Those with large animals, horses and cattle, should begin to move those animals now. Do not wait until the Evacuation Order to begin to move them out of the area. Accommodations are being made for animals at the Pomona Fairgrounds and Santa Anita Racetrack (limited capacity).
Evacuation sites for those who could be displaced are being prepared-- more information will follow should an Evacuation Order be implemented.
