Santa Monica Schools remainED open
The fire emergency in Southern California has caused the SMMUSD to close all schools on Friday, the Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District announced at 8 pm on Thursday night. The largest fire, the Tick Fire near Santa Clarita, has burned 5000 acres and caused the evacuations of 300 homes.
The SMMUSD press release reads:
Dear media friends, Please share and announce:
All four Malibu schools in the Santa Monica-Malibu USD will be closed Friday, Oct. 25, 2019.
This includes: Malibu Elementary School, Malibu Middle School, Malibu High School and Webster Elementary School.
Our schools in Santa Monica are planned to be open regular schedule at this time.
Very important to distinguish and not state that the entire district is closed.
