Itinerary altered, and the President will apparently spend tonight in Beverly Hills
US President Donald J. Trump will attend a fundraiser dinner in Beverly Hills Tuesday evening. Seats range from $1000 for Bronze, to $100,000 and up.
On Wednesday morning, he will seek a photo opportunity somewhere in LA's massive skid row, said to exceed 50 square blocks and contain 20,000 homeless people, mostly addicts and those with mental problems.
The president leaves Silicon Valley around 3:20 p.m., an hour behind schedule as originally announced. He arrived at LAX at 4:20 pm, almost an hour later than originally announced.
From there he took a motorcade, not Marine 1 Helicopters, into Downtown Los Angeles.
A motorcade will accompany Trump to Beverly Hills, where he's expected to arrive around 6:30 p.m. for a joint fundraising committee dinner.
The Los Angeles Times has reported that Trump officials have visited LA in order to study the City's homeless crisis. The newspaper also said Trump is likely to speak about the problem when he is in town. https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2019-09-16/trump-homeless-california-shelter-housing-fundraising.
Homelessness in California became a national issue recently, as the Federal Government has considered ways to intervene in what could become a public health crisis. Used needles, rats and feces in the streets are said to be out of control. Los Angeles County has 59,000 homeless people by a recent count.
