Santa Monica's Public Safety Building was the site of a memorial service honoring fallen fire fighters and police officers. The Tuesday morning event was the 10th annual memorial service conducted by the City of Santa Monica.
Officer Craig Peterson played taps. Three police officers rode horseback, including Stevanie Tovar, Jorge Zendejan, Rob Dawson
Honor guards included Captain Darrick Jacob and Sgt. Mike Boyd.
Santa Monica Police stood shoulder to shoulder with Santa Monica Fire Fighters, as names of those killed in the line of duty were read.
"It was a very brief non denominational service," said one attendee. "The flags were presented, the names of those who died read and the captain of the fire department rang a big brass bell, and taps were sounded."
A reception was held at the service’s completion, in the Santa Monica Public Safety Building.
