Entire City of Malibu Under Mandatory Evacuation, as Woolsey Fire Burns Toward the Pacific.

If you were thinking of driving to Ventura County today, think again. The entire city is under mandatory evacuation order fas the Woolsey Fire burns South toward the ocean.

From the roof of our condo building in Santa Monica, the plume of smoke seemed miles high.

A separate fire burned near Griffith Park. The condor enclosure area in Griffith Park zoo was being evacuated of animals, and all humans were evacuated from the Griffith Park zoo, which is closed.

At 7 am, CalFire tweeted that mandatory evacuation orders were in effect for parts of Malibu and Ventura Counties:

As of 8:30 AM Friday, the Woolsey fire is 0% contained, says CalFire. 6 buildings have been destroyed by the Santa Ana Wind spread fire.

Meanwhile, a small fire was also reported in Griffith Park, home of Mountain Lion P-22. This is concerning because it's much closer to densely populated areas of Los Angeles County. And closer to P-22.

Over 6,000 firefighters are battling 6 large wildfires in California. These wind-driven fires have destroyed more than 85,000 acres and hundreds of structures.

Winds are expected to decrease this morning across the Red Flag Warning areas. Temperatures are expected to remain average with no chance of significant rainfall in the next few days. An increase in off shore winds is predicted to arrive in parts of southern California beginning on Sunday, continuing into Monday.
