SMC Race Fight Between 20 Year Old Black Woman and 80 Year Old White Man Goes Viral

After recording a fight seen by millions of Youtube viewers, SMC police arrested LA Resident Allan Shinerock, 80, for assault and battery on school property.

Shinerock threw fists at a 20 year old African American woman, said SMC Police. Apparently they were fighting over a parking space.

Cell phone video recorded an elderly white man and young black female physically fighting in a parking lot, with the old man using offensive, racially charged language.

Campus Police Chief Johnnie Adams said that they arrived at the parking lot 1 minute after being called, and that the incident had been classified as a hate crime.

Police said the usual stuff that you would expect them to say about the investigation being on going.

In a statement, SMC Superintendent and President Kathryn E. Jeffery said, "Santa Monica College is an institution that prides itself on inclusivity and diversity ... and there is no room for hate at Santa Monica College." Which is also totally what you would expect her to say. Certainly, public displays of racism are rare at SMC.

It is not clear whether the young woman was an SMC student, though that could be surmised from her age and from where she parked. Her identity was not released; identities of crime victims are customarily withheld by police in California.
