Officials Monitor Two Whales Spotted Off Seal Beach

A couple of whales were spotted in the shallow waters off Seal Beach Monday morning.

The whales, which drew some crowds, were first spotted around 11 am, KABC7 reported.

It is unclear why the whales stayed in the shallow water between a sandbar and the beach.

Wildlife officials were on route to monitor the animals and make sure they were unharmed, according to multiple media outlets.

Live video FOX11 LA posted on Facebook showed the two whales thrashing and swimming in circles around noon.
