Bomb Threat Closes LA Superior Courthouse as Police Find Suspicous Package

A " suspicious package" closed the Santa Monica Courthouse on September 28th.

At about 12:45, Santa Monica police warned people to stay away from Main Street and Olympic Drive near the Santa Monica Courthouse.

At 1:15, police and that the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Arson-Explosives Detail found a suspicious package, that they ultimately determined to be papers and documents someone had left in the hallway. They gave the all clear at 3:30 pm.

santa monica high school students were released at 3 pm as usual. However, Students heard a public announcement that the gate that leads to the Civic Center was closed.

THE SANTA MONICA COURTHOUSE used to hear both Civil and Criminal trials, most famously the OJ Simpson Civil trial was held there in 1995. But for the last 5 years, only traffic and small claims, plus a few family law matters, take place there.

The presiding judge in Santa Monica is the former Mayor of Los Angeles, Hon. James K Hahn. His sister is Janice Hahn, a congress member. Hahn is the son of LA County Supervisor Kenneth Hahn. The Los Angeles County Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration is the headquarters of most Los Angeles County offices.
