Athletes, Donors, Celebrities and Spectators Showed Their Support for Pediatric Cancer Research
Thousands of world-class athletes swam, biked and ran along the Pacific coast in the 30th Annual Nautica Malibu Triathlon presented by Equinox, raising more than $1,226,000 for the Children's Hospital Los Angeles' Pediatric Cancer Research Program.
More than 5,000 participants competed in this year's triathlon, supported by a crowd of generous philanthropists, celebrities and spectators.
Famous Hollywood faces joined in to raise money for the cause, including Heather Tom, who finished first in the celebrity female division with a time of 2:05:23.63, and Colin Egglesfield, who led the celebrity male division with a time of 1:39:01.63. Team Westworld claimed the top spot in the co-ed celebrity relay division in 1:24:01.57.
Other stars in the celebrity division included Zac Efron, James Marsden, Alfred Enoch, Max Greenfield, Karla Souza, Patrick Fabian and more.
Alexander Romanenko was the overall winner, completing the half-mile swim, 18-mile bike ride and four-mile run in 1:19:41.64, while Julia Juliusson took first place in the female division with a time of 1:44:12.45.
Money raised for the Nautica Malibu Triathlon presented by Equinox goes to Children's Hospital Los Angeles' Pediatric Cancer Research Program, a leader in innovative research focused on curing and preventing cancer in children. This generous donation supports the program's mission to advance groundbreaking treatments for children with some of the deadliest forms of cancer.
In addition to the main race, friends, family and other supporters enjoyed a variety of activities in the Fun Zone, which hosted games, a photo booth and the Nautica Kids Run and Tot Trot.
