The Donald appears to be betting Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, Chris Christie,Newt Gingrich
"You can't marry all the girls" my mother once told me. Mother was right! And Donald Trump has announced that he will publicly select a running mate at 11 AM New York time on Friday.
Indiana Governor Mike pence faces a deadline. He must tell
The state whether he will be on the ballot for another gubernatorial term or whether he doesn't plan on running by next week. And the convention begins in Cleveland next week anyway. Newt Gingrich once considered the brains of the Republican Party is also regarded as to controversial. Like trump himself he is known for the occasional gaffe and outrageous public comment.
Chris Christie himself is regarded as too much like trump. The New Jersey governor has been the most publicly loyal Republican from trumps perspective and certainly deserves the running made award, but it is doubtful that he could even deliver the garden state to the Trump campaign.
After talking to Trump, Newt says it's down to him and Pence as VP. Trump has two "really good but really different choices," Newt says.
Indiana Gov. Mike Pence's meeting with Donald Trump on Wednesday in his home state is fueling speculating that he'll be the presumptive GOP nominee's vice presidential pick.
Trump is expected to announce his pick in the next 48 hours so that he can hit the campaign trail with his freshly minted running mate on Friday, three days before the Republican National Convention.
Pence, 57, would have to withdraw from his heated reelection race for governor of Indiana by Friday at noon if he is to run for vice president.
General Mike Flynn is no longer being mentioned by those in the know.
Former White House Press Secretary Dana Perino reminds people that "it is only 14 weeks out of the candidates life, that he has to devote to the campaign."
Perino thinks it's interesting that no women are under consideration. Trump apparently decided not to play the woman card she says.
If she knows that men like Flynn, would probably prefer a role in trumps national security apparatus rather then the vice presidency.
Update 7/14 NYTimes says :
Donald J. Trump’s advisers have told national Republican officials that they are preparing to make an announcement with Mr. Pence, according to three people with knowledge of the conversations, who were not authorized to discuss them publicly. His campaign has said that it will unveil a running mate for Mr. Trump in New Yorkon Friday.
Mr. Pence, a former congressman and radio host, emerged over the last week as the strong favorite of Mr. Trump’s political advisers and senior officials in the Republican Party.
But Mr. Trump himself has sent conflicting signals in recent days, and Republicans caution the party’s mercurial presidential candidate may still backtrack on his apparent choice.
