Police are investigating whether a man was run over by a vehicle Sunday on Santa Monica State Beach, which would be the second such incident in less than a week.
Police were called about 6:30 a.m. after a resident heard the man screaming for help in the 1400 block of Pacific Coast Highway, Santa Monica Police Sgt. Rudy Flores said.
The man, described as being in his 20s, told police he was hit by a vehicle, but could not say where it happened, Flores added. The extent of his injuries was not immediately available.
Officials are still investigating whether the man was indeed struck, but they did find tire tracks nearby, KTLA reported.
The report comes less than a week after 25-year-old Lorae Bermudez was run over by a Los Angeles County lifeguard vehicle as she was sunbathing on Venice Beach. Bermudez, a Whittier resident, suffered bone fractures and cuts to her internal organs. The driver, an ocean specialist, reportedly didn't see her.
