"Affair Of The Arts" Festival Comes To Culver

The Whole 9 Art Gallery and online community presents the 2nd Affair of The Arts” on June 7 and 8 in downtown Culver City at the intersection of Culver Blvd. and Main Street.

The free outdoor festival showcases 60 of Southern California’s premiere painters, photographers, sculptors, and glass, ceramics and jewelry artists and also includes live music and food trucks.

Proceeds from the festival will support the construction of 200 “instant houses” for families who lost their homes to Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. A highlight of the event will be the on-site construction of one of the dwellings to be painted and otherwise adorned by exhibiting artists.

“For the past three years, we’ve been using the power of TheWhole9.com’s artists’ community to fuel change through the non-profit Peace Project’s local and international initiatives. Producing an arts festival is a natural extension that helps create another link between art and change, “ shared Lisa Schultz, Founder of TheWhole9.com and The Peace Project.

Adults and children alike are invited to participate in free workshops led by Whole 9 artists to create windchimes using materials from dwellings destroyed by the typhoon.

In addition to visual arts, Affair of the Arts features two days of live, eclectic music from some of LA’s most loved musicians. Adults and children will also be able to participate in interactive art projects, or grab a snack from popular food trucks.

Most of Culver City’s downtown eateries including The Culver Hotel, Kay ‘N Dave’s, and LYFE Kitchen will offer specials so that festival-goers can make a day of it in downtown Culver City.
