    The daily number of Covid cases in Los Angeles County has gone from 3,054 on Tuesday December 21, to 8,633 on Thursday, December 23rd. Some experts believe that the Omicron variant is responsible for the apparent surge in cases. The Omicron variant is 80% less likely to kill or severely sicken patients, than the Delta variant.
