Authorities are investigating the brutal beating of a transient by two men along the Venice Beach boardwalk that was caught on video. The incident happened early Friday morning in the 1300 block of Ocean Front Walk near Horizon Avenue, according to police. The Santa Monica-Venice Christmas Run drew more than 5,000 runners Dec 4 to one of the westside’s largest running events. Leaders of The Georgian Hotel presented the Santa Monica Conservancy a check for $7,200 as part of a fundraising event held at the historic hotel in October. “We’re just delighted,” said Carol Lemlein, conservancy president. “The Georgian has been a strong partner. Principals will use the results of the survey to develop and improve each of their schools' homework plans.
