The Los Angeles-based company, founded by 23-year-old Evan Spiegel, recently turned down the offer because it's currently being courted by multiple investors, according to a source familiar with the matter. The 2-year-old Snapchat has been approached with offers including an investment...

    Nov 11, 2013

Former Boston crime boss James “Whitey” Bulger was sentenced Thursday to life in prison for his murderous reign of terror in the 1970s and ‘80s, bringing to a close a case that exposed FBI corruption so deep that many people across the city thought he would never be brought to justice. The 84-year-old called his trial this summer a sham and declined to testify there or at his sentencing hearing. On Thursday, Judge Denise Casper told Bulger his crimes were “heinous” and “all about money.” Bulger looked directly at her, listening intently. She...

    Nov 11, 2013

O’Brien’s Irish Pub and Restaurant in Santa Monica, CA is getting lots of free advertising around the world thanks to Josh Brolin, the likable actor who seems to have major issues with alcohol. Brolin, the Oscar nominated son of James Brolin and stepson of Barbra Streisand, was totally hammered last week at O’Brien’s, which describes itself as a “cozy neighborhood pub” and a “Santa Monica staple.” A stuttering, barely standing Brolin tried to fight a bouncer last Friday at 2 am. O’Brien’s was ready to close, but Brolin wanted to continue...

  • Will USC Keep Orgeron? Maybe

    Mitch Chortkoff, Sports Editor|Nov 11, 2013

After USC routed California Saturday, scoring 62 points, I began hearing from Trojan fans who asked the same question. They wanted to know if Ed Orgeron has a chance of remaining as the Trojans' coach beyond this season. I consider it a worthwhile topic because I've respected Orgeron since he became a Trojan assistant coach, became a head coach at Mississippi, then returned to the Trojans as an assistant and recruiting co-ordinator. It's obvious he's been an improvement over Lane Kiffin this...

  • Newcomers Help Kings Win

    Steven Lieberman, Observer Reporter|Nov 11, 2013

The Los Angeles Kings have been bringing their “A-Game,” playing without the services of sharp-shooters Jarret Stoll and Jeff Carter. Since both players have been out of the lineup with injuries, the Kings still managed to pull out victories against the Buffalo Sabres and Vancouver Canucks. Since the Sabres are in last place in the Eastern Conference, the win over the Canucks had more meaning since they are currently battling for the fourth spot in the Pacific Division in the Western Conference. It seemed like everything was clicking for the...
