    September 12, 2024 - At 7:28 this morning, as people were having breakfast or commuting to school or work, a 4.7 earthquake shook the region. The epicenter is noted by the USGS as located 7 kilometers north of Malibu, right along Kanan Dume road. Two minutes later, a second quake of 2.8 struck nearby, 6 km north of Malibu, in an area that appears to be between Kanan Dune and Bonsail Drive....

    A small dog named Muffin had to be rescued by Santa Monica Fire just after two this afternoon after wandering off and falling approximately 10 feet down onto the bluffs above Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica. Firefighters used ropes to bring down a firefighter to retrieve the dog. The dog was not injured and was given to their owner.     The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has confirmed a case of locally acquired dengue in a resident in the City of Baldwin Park, who has no history of travel to areas where dengue is endemic.
