Despite the earthquakes, Santa Monica conducted its annual parade on Thursday July 4, 2019. It lasted from 9:30 to 11 am. The 6.4 Richter scale temblor occurred at 10:19 am. At 8:19 PM on July 5, 2019 a 7.1 magnitude earthquake hit the same area, 17 km south west of Ridgecrest California. Given that it's magnitude was greater than the initial shake, this qualifies as the main shark and makes the July 4 earthquake a pre-shock. This past Friday morning, Santa Monica hosted a special event to celebrate Pride Month. Viewers were able to meet at the library to hop on the Pride Bus to get to the event on the beach. The event was held right outside of the Annenberg Community Beach House and was arranged in part by the Santa Monica Public Library.
