    National Park Service researchers recently discovered a litter of four mountain lion kittens in the Simi Hills, a small area of habitat wedged between the larger Santa Monica and Santa Susana mountain ranges.     A court denied a pilots' group petition claiming the FAA exceeded its authority when it agreed to allow the city to shorten the airport's single runway last year.
