The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has closed all public buildings effective immediately. The County of LA has the largest population of any American county at 10,000,000. This denies them access to all over the counter services, but also gives them less reason to leave home. Just hours after Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District announced they were closing all schools Friday and Monday due to Coronavirus exposure, Beverly Hills Unified School District announced they were taking a pre-emptive strike. Shoppers came to Santa Monica's tawny Montana Avenue Friday, emptying the shelves at Vons, Ralph's and other markets. LA County Fire Department paramedics treated a patient in cardiac arrest Thursday. The patient died, and was later confirmed to have had Coronavirus. Fire Dept. personnel were thereby exposed to the virus. It's not in the press release, but I would speculate that the patient was in a senior facility. Late today, the Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles announced that all Catholic schools will shut down in LA, Ventura, and Santa Barbara counties. Santa Monica College has now joined the long list of schools shutting down to contain the spread of Covid-19, or Coronavirus. Early this evening, SMC announced that all classes are going to be cancelled starting on Friday. And next Wednesday, classes will switch to online.
